Welcome to the website of Cumbria Societies for the Blind.
Cumbria Societies for the Blind is a Consortium of independent local societies for the blind that represent over 3000 visually impaired people throughout Cumbria. These are
Barrow and District Society for the Blind Ltd
Carlisle Society for the Blind
Eden Voluntary Society for the Blind
Sight Advice South Lakes
West Cumbria Society for the Blind
As separate organisations, we specialise in providing the support and services required by visually impaired people in their own local communities. We have a detailed knowledge of the issues that affect people living with sight loss and we pride ourselves on making a real difference at a grassroots level.
Our aims
• To provide a unified voice for visually impaired people in Cumbria and to share best practice between the five local societies
• To raise awareness of visual impairment issues
• To promote equitable services for visually impaired people across the county
• To work together to provide county-wide services for visually impaired people when this is appropriate
Each Society produces its own information on the services it provides in its area. You can access the information using the links below for societies that have their own website. Full contact details are available in the Contacts section.
